Bacon swizzle sticks

Ya’ll, bacon swizzle sticks have changed my life. I know, I know. It’s  not world peace, but I discovered the perfect way to make a sturdy swizzle stick out of pork. I served them with Bloody  Marys at our fund raiser, Oyster Easter, yesterday and they went like hot cakes. Or bacon strips.

Of course, I found the recipe for this on the internet since you can google bacon swizzle sticks and actually get about 3,280 results. I’m going to walk you through the process but if you want to watch the video, here it is.

First off, the best bacon for this is the thin garden variety bacon from the supermarket.

Here’s what you do.

Cut the bacon in half and roll each piece into a spiral. Put the spiral in the middle of a paper towel and start tightly rolling the paper towel around the bacon.

When you’re done, you’ll have a nice tight tube. Then pop it in the microwave for about a minute and 15 seconds. Unroll and — voila — the perfect sturdy bacon swizzle stick for your swirling pleasure.
