New Year’s Eve Countdown: Bacon-Wrapped Cocktail Weenies
Peoples of the South, it has been a week. Very soon you will see a new redesigned South In My Mouth website that I hope will blow your socks off (how does that work, anyway?). But since I am a technological moron, I am quaking in my boots with my socks blown off at the thought of a more sophisticated site. And then to make matters worse, I got flummoxed the other day logging in to the old site (or, perhaps, I was over served) and hit the button so many times the site thought I was a hacker and locked me out.
However, I am back. And I am going to spend the next few days counting down the greatest appetizers of all time to help you ring in the New Year. Many of them will involve bacon because I know you all want start 2015 living high off the hog.
Ta da! Bacon-wrapped cocktail weenies. Pig on pig. I cannot express to you the instant happiness you will feel biting into one of these.
By the way, thanks. I have a lot of people involved in this site to be thankful for as 2014 draws to a close. I’m thankful for St. Sherry Dedman, my site administrator who never judges me as the moron I am and keeps this baby humming along. I am thankful to Larry St. John, my web designer who has created a beautiful new website you’ll see soon. But mostly, I am thankful for you, the readers. On some days, there are almost 700 of you who tune in. Admittedly, some of you are friends. But I don’t have 700 friends so I know some of you just stumbled in here and can’t find your way out.
When I started this thing six years ago, I was lucky to have four or five readers a day (and two of them were King Daddy and Dammit Boy). So I am giddy with excitement to have so much company.

- Sprinkle each weenie with a generous amount of brown sugar.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until bacon is crisp.
