It’s hot. I don’t know why we complain about heat in the South. It gets really hot every single year. Always around the last part of July. And it stays really hot all the way through September. That’s why we play college football games at night early in the season. Which, by the way, our beloved Vols are not looking too good this year. Those poor boys have had three coaches in three years. No wonder they’re confused.

But I digress. The other day, Mark decided to make Bourbon Slush, the perfect hot weather drink. It’s basically a booze icee. Very refreshing. We first learned about Bourbon Slush at my friend Wanda Woolen’s house. She had a party and served them. She told me she just keeps a pitcher of Bourbon Slush in the freezer at all times just in case a party should break out. Or not.

I’m not going to go on and on about this. You just need the recipe. Make a batch. Cool off. It’s hot.

Bourbon Slush

2 tea bags

1 cup boiling water

1 cup sugar

3 1/2 cups water

1 6-ounce can orange juice concentrate, thawed

3/4 cup bourbon

1/2 can of a 6-ounce can of frozen lemonade concentrate

Steep the tea bags in the boiling water to make tea. Remove the bags and stir in sugar to dissolve. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour into a pitcher and freeze until firm. To serve, spoon into cocktail glasses. Or just eat it with a spoon out of the pitcher if no one else is around.
